Chapter 8 - Flight of the Fat Lady

Chapter 8 - Flight of the Fat Lady

As the days go by school is as diverse as ever, but one bright prospect presents itself for Harry – the Quidditch season begins. Still the joys of the training cannot console Harry when the first Hogsmeade weekend approaches. He still has no signature of a guardian and Professor McGonagall refuses to let him go without it. When the others finally leave for the village, Harry meets Professor Lupin and is invited for tea. Harry uses this opportunity to ask why he was not given a chance to fight the Boggart. Lupin explains the obvious: he thought the Boggart would turn into Voldemort. However, Harry states that he is most afraid of fear itself and dreads the appearance of a Dementor above all.
When Ron and Hermione return from their Hogsmeade trip, they give the sweets they brought along to Harry and tell him everything about the village. The Halloween banquet in the evening is a cheerful event which ends with a fright, as the portrait of the Fat Lady guarding the Gryffindor common room has been slashed by Sirius Black.
