The beginning of the exams makes everybody sweat over their work. At the end of the week Harry, Ron and Hermione encounter the Minister for Magic, Fudge, who is at Hogwarts because of Buckbeak’s hearing. Before they can go and visit Hagrid, Harry still has to sit the Divination exam for which Professor Trelawney is already expecting him. After a rather moderate test Professor Trelawney seems to go into a trance and prophesies that Voldemort will be returning with the help of his servant. Harry doesn’t tell his friends about it.
When Hermione announces the planned execution of Buckbeak the three friends go to Hagrid, who is grateful for the visit on the one hand but on the other hand doesn’t want them to be present at the execution. Before they return to the castle Hermione finds Scabbers in Hagrid’s hut. On their way back Harry, Ron and Hermione hear the sound of a smashing axe behind them.
