Chapter 7 - -
Chapter 7 “I regret, my adored friend, that your wife has to be blamed for the death of your loveable sister and your merry father,” prince Merol announced with sincere condolence. “Thank you, I really appreciate your sympathy!” “Count Eldorar,” a voice sounded behind me and commissar Benjamin Cemford, in his black suit, stepped closer to me. “I want to express my condolences, too, as it does not happen too often that ladies, born in such good family, try to kill them off! I am just glad that it took such a happy ending, because, who knows, what could have happened in this night…if you think about that she just poisoned your miss sister and your admired father! Also, I have to apologize, we should have known that something was going on, when both, the husband and the child, just vanished, but in the end we can tell you that she forfeited the blame! The bad ones seem to get what they deserve in the end and it doesn´t matter, if we commissars or brittle bridges contribute to that!” A hearty laugh came out of his throat and I followed his example contently. “Yes, you´re right, but it is a shame about the bridge, nevertheless I will not let it restore!” “Why not? I mean, everything belongs to you now, the castle and the huge hardscaping, the woods and the fields”, Cemford said. I waved his doubts away and explained: “I won´t get the bridge refurbished, because of its reminder value that it holds for me only. Like that I will always be reminded that the death of my father and sister is not unatoned!” Again the both of us laughed wholeheartedly. “Yes, I would have never thought that your wife could be so cold, especially because her motif is not obvious to me! Such a woman, that is as ruthless as her, being able to kill two people on one day, to increase the pain for the other one, isn´t just brutal, cruel and deceitful, but also canny! If the second murder wouldn´t have occurred, we would have never looked for a killer that wants to slaughter your whole family, including you, to take revenge and therefore we would have discarded family members!” “Yes, she always had a talent to trick other people,” I responded and the prince, who had paid attention to our conversation, said: “I can only confirm that, my friend, she was a beautiful, but a cold and dangerous woman…there had to be a catch with this girl, after all she took a tailor, no offence to you dearest count, even though she could have had everyone! Well, she obviously underestimated you, my friend!” The conversation went on like that, while I left the courthouse together with my daughter, the prince and the commissar and his helper. “What was also tragic about that whole thing is, that Christine wanted to incriminate you,” the prince contemplated. I nodded and smiled and took my daughter´s hand. “Did you want to accompany me for a while?”, I asked into the round, whereupon a common agreement sounded and we headed to the castle.
